BABYSITTING (after 6pm)
$15-$18 per hour/minimum of 4hrs
Babysitting is a casual or regular booking, after 6pm for a minimum of four hours, involving the supervision of children and carrying out of the bedtime routine. Babysitting can be carried out in private homes or hotels.
A Babysitter's duties may include:
- Playing age appropriate activities with children before bed
- Feeding and bathing children
- Carrying out bedtime routine
NANNY (between 8am-6pm)
$15-$20 per hour/minimum of 4hrs
A nanny is someone who is 21yrs and over, is qualified or has extensive experience in working with children. A nanny works on a sole charge basis, providing stimulating age appropriate activities for young children as well as carrying out child related duties. A nanny does not do housework. Additional duties can be negotiated before employment commences if required.
A Nanny's duties may include:
- Sole charge of children
- Playing age appropriate activities with children
- Using initiative to organise fun and educational activities
- Cook for and feed children
- Shop for children
- Taking children to appointments, lessons and planned activities
- Pick ups from school/kindy etc
- Homework supervision
- Child-related duties such as child's washing & ironing
- Caring for children during times of illness
- Keeping the living areas tidy throughout the day
Live-in Nanny
Is a full/part time nanny who lives with the family or is provided with a separate flat or unit. She always has her own bedroom and usually her own bathroom. A live-in nanny may have her own car or be provided with a car to transport children. If the nanny uses her own car for work purposes, she is reimbursed for fuel/mileage. A live-in nanny usually earns a lower rate than a live-out nanny, in order to cover her accommodation and food expenses.
Live-out Nanny
Is a daily nanny who does not live with the family.
Share Nanny
Is a nanny who cares for two or more children from different families. Share nannies are usually paid slightly more than regular nannies as they have twice the responsibility and are communicating with two families instead of one. This arrangement works well for both parties as the nanny has the opportunity to earn slightly more money while the family cuts costs by splitting the nanny's wage. If you would like to share a nanny but do not have another family to share with, please let us know as we may be able to help you.
Nanny/Housekeeper
Is a nanny who cares for children and performs household duties. These duties can vary from one family to another. Usually nanny/housekeepers care for older children who do not require constant supervision or are at school during the day.
Casual Nanny
Is a nanny used on a casual or emergency basis.
Holiday Nanny
Is a nanny who travels with a family abroad or locally. The nanny is paid an agreed weekly/monthly rate and all her expenses are paid for by the family.
Manny
Is a male nanny. Mannies are perfect for families with boys or those wanting a male influence.
Before/After School Carer
Is a nanny who drops off/picks up children from school whilst mum and dad are at work. The nanny usually ensures homework is done and prepares the children's afternoon tea/dinner.
Overnight Nanny
Is a nanny who spends a 12hr period or more caring for your children while you are away. The hours are generally 7pm till 7am however can be flexible to suit your needs
MOTHERS HELPER
$12-$16 per hour
A Mothers Helper is someone who wishes to have a career in childcare but lacks the experience necessary to care for children on a sole charge basis. A responsible adult is required to be near at all times to offer assistance if necessary. A mother's helper is not a cleaner. Childcare and household chores should be divided evenly.
A Mothers Helpers duties generally are to:
- Give mum/dad an extra pair of hands
- Accompany parent and children to activities/outings
- Interact with children through age related activities
- Help around the house with light housework, ironing, meal preparation washing etc
PARTY HELPER
A Party Helper assists parents at birthday parties/events in directing children from one activity to the next, carrying out games/activities and helping to distribute food and drinks.
